How much more than normal am I giving away my life by switching to this instead of continuing with my email and password?

More than necessary.

You shouldn't use your "real" e-mail when logging into sites anymore either. With the ability to create e-mail aliases you can at least make things a little more complicated for spammers/bots/trackers.

Is there such a thing as an SSO that uses minimal private data to authenticate to everywhere?

Kinda like a proton mail for SSO?

I'm looking around and don't see a comprehensive, well-adopted solution.

My current login stack is bitwarden, icloud (on mobile, have both), some google-sign-in, some direct logins with pw saved in my brain, some direct logins with pw saved in a browser, some variation of MFA with 2FAS or DUO or something else based on the requirements of the site loggin in to, etc, etc, etc

IE, it's a clusterfrick.

Protonmail has proton pass now. I switched over from Bitwarden. (Still have it as a backup.) proton has a built in 2FA and e-mail aliasing.

Just don’t use proton to save your proton account password and 2FA obviously. Use something like Authy for your proton account so you don’t get locked out.

I have ten authenticators installed on my phone right now, let's talk clusterfrick. LOL

I also have three Yubikeys. However, it occurred to me that leaving one of them in my desktop made it a worthless security control, and I never enabled key authentication on my personal laptop. You can't attach the thing to your keys , etc. They do make tiny ones that are designed to be left in, but again, it's defeating the point.

If you combine disposable email addresses from Duck Duck Go with Bitwarden, for instance, what private data do you think is being sent to the average website? I mean, if I'm going to buy something from a site, I'm the one filling in my shipment details, etc.

To me the bigger risk is people volunteering too much personal info "linked" to supposedly anonymous user names, which can then be used to completely untangle someone's real identity and habits. I don't get why *anyone* gives their real name, dates of birth in usernames, etc. on TD, for instance.
