I have not run into any compatibility issues in Libre Office vs. Word and Powerpoint. I have had some slight problems with complex macros going from Excel to Calc, but they were cause by slight syntax differences and easily fixed. If you are going to explore the Linux option checkout LibreCad. I have been using that with all my old AutoCad drawings and so far, knock on wood, no major issues.

Only issue is smaller product base.

Some companies do not test for small product bases.

I have both and use both, 21” iMac and a MB pro. The Microsoft Surface pro is the nicest and easiest to use laptop/tablet I’ve ever owned.

Don’t let the operating system dictate your needs. I can see hardware but mostly its the applications you run and what platform makes it easiest to run them.

Another suggestion & this is what I did.

Buy a MBP, dual boot Windows and Mac. Start up either OS you need or want at the time.

Profit.

I love my mac for general browsing, audio production, and web design but find myself preferring windows for office stuff and anything involving manually organizing files.

My macbook pro is from 2014 and still rubs great. Wakes up instantly when i open it and pretty much never needs to be rebooted. The linux likee MacOS stays clean even if you uninstall apps. The track pads on the macs are superb. If you have an iphone the sync and handoff capabilities between the two is great..
