Should I wait to buy a laptop with Windows 11 announced?

I am looking for a laptop but am in no way in a rush. With 10 set to be sunsetted in 2024 or 2025 should I just wait for 11 to make sure everything is compatible?

I would expect there to be many patches for windows 11 stuff. If you are game planning that far out, I wouldn't worry about getting one now.
Either way, you can always upgrade OS

No. As far as I know the kernel is similar and it will be an easy upgrade.
The upgrade will likely be free since the license is basically for the life of the computer.

I do not buy laptops very often so a long shelf life matters to me. 11 will not need more horsepower but will probably be optimal to have some more next Gen parts. Thst is my train of thought anyways

What kind of laptop have you had and how long did it last?

The best time to buy new hardware is when you need new hardware. Otherwise, you'll always have a reason to delay the purchase.

Running the preview version on a 2-3 year old Lenovo IdeaFlex (I7 with 8GB RAM) with no issues or noticeable slowdowns. As mentioned the core is similar enough that the move to Windows 11 didn't require a complete install, so all data and apps/programs were retained.
