I sent out a "server maintenance" email today, but I am actually setting up a new Exchange Client Access Server at the moment. I don't like to tell them specifically what I am doing because it's like the placebo effect, they will start imagining email issues.
The worst is when one of the C level guys starts imagining issues. It's often accompanied that infamous quote - "because if it's happening to me, it must be happening to everyone else too..."

To which you'd probably get that smug C level response... "Same switch huh?? I know all you IT guys are weirdos but... the light switch is right there on my wall, genius."

I would promptly remove that user from the system..
Seriously though, I tell the managers that if their people make stupid mistakes, they don't deserve the PCs we give them..I am in a lucky environment where they rely on IS to get jobs done

"My solitaire is really slow to open. Are ya'll doing something to the server?"
"No. No, we are not."

It could also mean that the internal IT staff thought it would be a good idea to install clone memory to save money. In a Itanium server. In a production environment. One day before a large, virtual presentation to their primary customer.
It could mean that.
Maybe.
It could mean that.
Maybe.
