I run a website for a home service business and I have discovered after gathering a few month’s worth of data that people truly have become lazy on google.

I have many 1st place ranked organic keywords in the SERPs (#1 after the google Ads and Google three pack results)

Results: Tons of impressions, almost zero clicks

But then I have many keywords that are appearing in the google three pack results..

Results: tons of impressions and tons of clicks

This tells me that people are too lazy to scroll down past the sponsored Google Ads and Google three pack rankings.

Are there any SEO nerds (like me) that have noticed this same trend with your SEO project?

Same.

I have two websites that make money.

On both of them, I worked my tail off to get the #1 ranking for the best keywords and they don't come close to the paid ads in terms of conversions....

It’s a shitty feeling because I’ve worked my arse off to get the important keywords to the top of the Serps

Are y'all in an industry with google screened?

Hard to compete with high rankings if a picture and google certificate are above that.

Yea it’s almost like google does not ever want people to leave their website. They want all of your products, services, phone numbers, etc on their platform so people never have to actually visit 3rd party websites

Yea man SEO is tough now days because so many companies are either paying loads of cash for ads or people are lazy and don't want to scroll. I actually own/run a business where I build websites for other businesses and then manage their SEO/Google ADs and do site maintenance on the back end each month. There's no one secret for SEO anymore - very industry specific but there are ways to get clicks and turn those clicks into opportunities.

Let me know if you or anyone else wants some help. Always looking for new business.

Pretty shitty when the real results start well below the fold.
