What is the best security system cameras (best bang for the buck)? A lot of theft going on in my neighborhood and I want to be able to monitor by phone when away from house. Thanks.

I've had good luck with Foscam IP cameras. There are better cameras out there but the price goes up accordingly. As with most IP cameras, if you are going to have more than three, don't use wireless, go with a hard wire/cabling plan. I have the Foscam POE cameras, 11 of them, and I run them off the Foscam labeled POE switch which I think is really a Netgear product. Works well.

The US distributor of Foscam is now labeled as Amcrest. I have an Amcrest NVR, which I'm happy with. My outdoor cams are Hikvision. I use a Foscam PTZ cam for a baby monitor (now 5 year old).
If you can run Cat6, a POE cam is highly recommended over wireless.

I had an unused desktop which I turned into an NVR running Blue Iris
Bought a PoE switch and installed a wired PoE bullet cam myself
Total cost was $120
I like DIY projects but if you can spend the coin, the Amcrest set up as mentioned above is optimal.
Just make sure your system is ONVIF or you will struggle to get cameras from different manufacturers to work together/connect to your NVR.
