Narrowed it down the laptop I want and trying to decide between two versions. It’s the same overall, except the processor. One is a Ryzen and is $800 and one is Intel that is $680. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Ryzen- Best Buy

Intel- Dell

I’m not gonna lie, I have no idea what most of that means.

The CPUs are basically the same. The Intel CPU has better single thread performance, the AMD CPU has more cores, and the AMD CPU is more power efficient.

With that said, the Ryzen system is overpriced, especially with a measly 250gb of storage.

The Intel processor is more power hungry (35W TDP vs. 15W TDP). That means more heat, less battery life.
The Ryzen processor has more cores, so it's better at multitasking, and can overall do more.
The Intel processor has fewer cores, but the cores it does have are individually faster than the Ryzen ones. So for a single application that is only using a single core, it'd be faster.

Keep in mind the Intel model has twice the storage space too though.
