My house is too big for my current set up. 1 router for a 3000+ square foot house with 2 floors. I think I need a mesh router, and Consumer Reports recommends one by Net Gear. What do y’all think?

If you don't have an ethernet cable connecting the two places you want to put it and no desire to run one, most "wireless mesh" systems will suit you fine.
TP Link Deco m5 has been my "bang for the buck" recommendation last I looked (~5-6 months ago)
I will almost definitely be installing a similar setup in about a week at my father in law's new place (haven't seen it and don't know what's there). Local Costco has a Netgear Nighthawk 6 that I am going to pick up to put in just because it's available without ordering and around the same price. And I sort of like the form factor a little better and think it will be more discreet, which is something they care about. I don't think WiFi 6 is necessary in a setup if you don't know you need a feature in it, but this is a decent value.
I've heard almost no credible bad things about Google or Orbi's wifi mesh systems as well

I think between those four you can find something usable in your budget.

I'll 2nd this system. I don't have it for my house, but set in up at my inlaws and it works really well. I thought it was really good bang for your buck.

They had switch to steaming TV and there wifi smart tvs were giving them issues in dead zones in there house. Now they are getting consistent speed over wifi everywhere.

I have the Netgear Orbi 6 system and it's been nothing but fantastic.

Ditto on Orbi 6. Getting 600mbps in the back yard. Covers all of my 2600 square feet in 400-700mbps

Can confirm on the Orbi. It's been crazy fast and very stable.

Thanks all. Looks like the Orbi 6 is really good, but very pricey. Might go with the Deco since we are not big users, just need what we have to reach the entire house.

I started off cheaper too with a Linksys mesh system that only put out 200-300mbps. Worked great, but was aggravating to be limited to those speeds while paying for Gigabit service. If you have gigabit service, cut out the middle man and get the Orbi.

The location and orientation of the router has a lot to do with the coverage, a central location with the router about head height will give you good coverage, but if it's not feasible the mesh seems to be a good alt.
