Remote for Direct TV Stream without box

I recently got Direct TV Stream for cable. I like it and I like how you can download the app on several TVs and have cable. It is perfect for our family because my kids can use our password while they are at college and have cable.
The one box that comes with the Direct TV comes with a nice remote.
I have the stream on two TCL Roku TVs and another TV using a Fire Stick. The stream works well but I’m using the fire stick and TCL remotes which don’t have numbers.
Can I get a universal remote to control my Direct TV stream on a fire stick or TCL Roku TV.

My understanding (and experience so far) is that only the direct stream box allows numbers to be used. It would not accept number entries for the app on my Samsung tv using a remote with numbers.
It seems like an intentional move on their part to get people to buy their boxes.

So DirecTV is trying to go back to the time of cable boxes, for a streaming service.

Optimum cable does the same thing. You have to get their shitty box to have their shitty streaming service if you have a cable subscription.

I got Direct TV stream about a month ago and got rid of Cox. I have the app downloaded on 3 roku tvs and 1 Amazon fire tv. What I did is set up the tvs to go channels by Alpha rather than by channel number.
When you go in to your Guide it should show up on the left side of the screen under Sports Favorites, etc. If I recall it is toward the bottom of the list where it gives you option to change to by alpha
