Like OnePlus 5 and up have face unlock that is much quicker and cost less but iPhone has to have the 30+ 3d points to recognize.

I tried to find a decent comparison on YouTube, but came up empty handed. I believe you, but this was also the first non-video link that came up on Google for me:

Of Course You Can Trick the OnePlus 6 Face Unlock with a Photo

Can you authenticate payments with the OnePlus face feature?

Either way FaceID nearly instantaneous with the iPhone XS and it’s more secure so I’m not exactly sure why you’re trying to make the point you are.

ETA: it’s 30,000 points of reference. Not just 30.

IMO a lot of smart phone prices have come down. You can find very nice phones sub 200 dollars now.

Flagship phones like iPhones have gone up because these companies need to show never ending growth to investors.

That's usually what I do, but I bought a Nexus 5x that crapped out after 6 months and the refurbished one Google gave me crapped out 6 months after that. So Google gave me my full $250 back a year after my original purchase and had $100 Project Find credit for the Pixel 2 last year.

I felt like the first ape to go bipedal

I believe this to be the case as well. The tech is only getting marginally better. The software is where the real changes are and they lock them behind the "features" of the phone so you have to get them to use them.

not interested in paying over $400 for any phone ever.

Same here. Nothing I can't do that I normally do on my three year old phone that I could on a new high end phone

I finally retired my perfectly working iphone 5 for a brand new iphone SE for $149 last month. Other than being faster and more memory I can't tell much difference

You can still get the phone prices down quite a bit if you use Google shopping.

I paid around $650 for a Google Pixel XL at release.
