Record player/ phonograph advice

Wife mentioned she’s interested in having one. Any advice on purchasing? This will likely become a decoration and used mostly during holidays and maybe occasionally throughout the year.
Don’t need anything high end but something functional that has built in speakers. Looking cool would be a plus as well due to it becoming a decoration type thing most likely.

Speakers and turntable should never go together in one box. But if you have to, search Amazon and anything will be just as bad as anything else.
A turntable with wireless and a pair of powered speakers would be better.

Will make finding one easy, because it literally doesn’t matter. Just go to Amazon and search for “turntable built in speakers” and choose one that looks the best to your wife, and hits your budget requirements.
I feel like this might be what she has in mind. Just don’t expect good sound. Items like this are essentially a toy, but as you said it’s likely going to end up as a decoration, so I guess sound doesn’t matter.

That’s initially what I was thinking but now that y’all said the sound will suck I’m leaning towards a turntable and a couple bookshelf speakers.

If you decide to go with the turntable and separate speakers, I have the Audio Technica AT-LP120 and it's excellent. Came with some cheap shelf speakers and sounds great.

Do you plan to get powered speakers? They aren't going to amplify themselves unless you do.

Youp'll need a turntable with a phono stage built-in so you can output to those. This will be the case for any powered speakers.

Since it may end up as a piece of furniture, may I suggest the Clearaudio Statement?
It is also available in black should your decor not agree with the natural wood grain...
