Inside my house I have a smart tv with Dish network and an older receiver. I’m trying to have a live tv feed sent to my outside tv(it is not a smart tv)

I looked into options and found a sling adapter that I can purchase for 49.99 that will allow me to stream my tv feed on to a phone laptop etc via the dish anywhere app.

I also found that the amazon firestick dongle for 29.99 that has the ability to download the dish anywhere app but it’s unclear to me if the sling adapter is still needed.

My question is if I just purchase the Amazon Firestick dongle will I be able to stream my live dish tv feed or will I also need to buy the sling adapter anyway since my current dish receiver is old.

Your receiver needs to be able to send the signal to the app. What receiver do you have? Depending on how old it is, the sling adapter may or may not work.

I recommend upgrading to the Hopper 3 receiver. You don't need an adapter to use the Dish Anywhere service.

VIP 722k while right now we are eligible for a free upgraded hopper but dish wants us to lock in to a 2 year contract which I’m not crazy about.

With the VIP 722k you would need the sling adapter as well as having your receiver connected to the internet.

Depending on how many people you have in your house, and what they like to watch, the Hopper 3 is a game changer. Huge DVR and can record more channels than you could ever imagine. You could do a wireless Joey outside if you don't have coax or Cat6 run.
