My client device is getting pretty old. Got an NVIDIA shield in 2017. I love it because it can stream HDR10 and do uncompressed audio (DTSHD-MA) so it can stream my Blu-ray’s in full quality. At the time I bought it, Roku and fire stick could not do this so it was my only option. I don’t mind other than it sucks to not really have as reliable voice controls as a fire stick as well as some more obscure apps do not work on it (like my regional sports network for hockey). Because of its age it is getting pretty slow.

Any good suggestions for an upgrade that can handle full blu ray streams in terms of video and audio? The other stuff would be nice if I can get it, but plex streaming is the priority.

I use a beelink Mini PC. S12 pro. Can handle multiple 4k transcodes. There might be some newer versions as I've had it about a year and a half.

Seems like Nvidia will not update to a new version of the shield anytime soon being they use the same chips for the Nintendo switch.

Your shield discards essence data in Dolby vision profile 7 disc content. But no easily available devices have solved this problem. So a disc player is still the absolute best quality, better than the shield. The shield also has red push issues with Dolby vision.

Just use an Apple TV 4k for everything else.
