Online Shopping Workshop Ideas

I'm putting on an online shopping workshop for elderly. Trying to help a few people out before everyone goes full bore on Christmas shopping this year. Any thoughts from the board on topics or tips you would want to communicate to a group of people to help protect them and also encourage online shopping?

no necessarily shopping related, but you might start with some of the phishing scams to look out for. Especially since the shipping carrier one is so prominent now and they might fall for it if they are expecting packages.
other than that some things i (not elderly) use when shopping online is PayPal, Rakuten, CamelCamelCamel and Privacy.com.

Captain Obvious here but:
1. Shop early in the season
2. Get an Amazon Prime account if they don't already have one.
3. Search filter for Prime products
4. Filter by either product rating or most popular product in a particular category
5. Make them aware that some products like clothes have drop down arrows for size and color, etc.
6. Check the shipping date to make sure it will arrive in time
7. At check out, make them aware that they might have reward points/money off the purchase price that can be applied to the the current purchase.
8. Check email often for notices about shipping updates. Stuff might come earlier or later than the projected delivery date.
9. Get some kind for doorbell camera system to document thieves trying to steal packages. Most of our stuff comes via a USPS postal worker who rings our doorbell upon delivery.

Thanks for the feedback. I do plan to talk a little about scams. I'll include your suggestion in the mix. And thanks for sharing what you use for online shopping.

Great feedback. The workshop will be common sense to a lot of people, but I've learned there are a number of people that need technical help. I'll include your suggestions since I will step through the shopping experience on a website during the workshop.
