OnePlus 8 Pro 5G - Doesn't work with AT&T?

The OnePlus 8 and OP8 Pro have 5G but it isn't compatible with AT&T's 5G?
Will it eventually? Or will it just run on 4G through AT&T?
Is it worth getting this phone or waiting? I really want the wireless charging but if it never will have the capability of running on AT&T 5G network I may pass.

5G really isn’t supported well in most areas right now. I don’t know if it will ever be compatible with ATT 5G, but if you aren’t planning on keeping it more than 2 years I don’t think it will matter much.

2 years is about the maximum amount of time I keep a phone.
That is the answer I was looking for. Thanks

At&t is rolling NR 5G on n5 nationally (at least where it owns that spectrum). The OnePlus 8 Pro does have support for that band. Millimeter 5G isn't supported, but IMO it's a non factor due to how extremely limited the range is for those bands. A piece of paper can block the signal between you and the tower, so you're not missing out on much except for 'proof of concept' bragging rights.
As far as At&t allowing you to connect to that 5G band on a phone that isn't whitelisted is another story. They still don't allow most non-At&t phones to use VoLTE on their network.

Thanks for the info
So really what you're saying is while 5G is here, we are still a some time away from having true 5G.

To get the fast wireless charging on the OP8 you have to use their $70 stand. If not, other Qi wireless pads will actually be super slow.

But is it "real" 5G or just 5G-lite capable? T-mobile has not really put up 5G, yet, but is the One+ capable of the "real" 5G when it's implemented, or just this junior wanna-be variant?

If you buy it today, which I am, they are sending the wireless charger with the phone for free.

I will say this; T-Mobile is the only carrier right now with the ability to deploy what we perceive to be real "5G" speeds everywhere.
5G NR is a new airlink that was developed in order to replace 4G LTE. Some estimates put NR to be 20-30% more efficient than LTE, so of course you'll see some improvement if you have a 5G phone today with n5. But you're not going to get the speeds everyone has been hyping. For people to be able to have download speeds in the 200-500 Mbps range, carriers are going to need massive amounts of contiguous spectrum. And only T-Mobile has that at this moment (EBS and BRS band). Verizon and AT&T are waiting for the next (and probably last) auction that will open up in the 3.5 Ghz band. It's the last place those two carriers can get over 100 Mhz of contiguous spectrum in what is relatively useful frequencies. mmWave for mobile users is a pipe dream.
