OnePlus 5T Review

Got a OnePlus 5T before Christmas and wanted a little time with the device before reviewing it.
I purchased the 8GB RAM/128 GB Storage version ($559) for myself and the wife got the 6GB RAM/64 GB Storage version ($499).
I came from a Nexus 5x with 2GB of RAM and the wife came from a Note 4 with 3GB of RAM.
Battery life has been absolutely incredible. We have not had one day go by where we had to put the phone on the charger before we went to bed. I average around 5.5 to 6 hours of Screen on Time and sometimes 7. My wife's phone is about the same. I can run games, youtube, and other battery intensive apps and it will still get that SOT with bluetooth, GPS, WIFI, and NFC on at all times. Our old phones would only get about 2 hours of SOT if we were lucky.
The OnePlus android skin is called OxygenOS and it is very close to stock experience with a few upgrades. It is very fast and does not lag.
With the added RAM, I am constantly switching apps and they are right back where I left off.
The Dash charger is INSANELY fast. I can go from 15% to 40% is a mere 5-7 minutes and fully charged in less than 1.5 hours.
Face recognition and Fingerprint readers are incredibly fast.
The new 18:9 screen ratio is amazing. Since the phone has an AMOLED display, it is bright and vibrant.
This phone is highly recommended.

I want my OnePlus 3 to stop losing its charge in a few hours due to the stupid Oreo update that came out prematurely.

I was stuck between OnePlus 5T, The Razer Phone, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. I talked my mom into getting the 5T. It's nice but the build is so meh. I got the Mix 2.and couldn't be happier. OxygenOS is nice though.

Xiaomi makes some good looking phones. I wasn't aware that they worked or were available in the U.S. I have an S8 now. I don't see me getting another phone at launch like that again. Sony has some good looking phones too. You never see anyone with one though. I wonder why. Barring something catastrophic I plan on using this phone the rest of this year. After that I'll definitely be interested in a one plus product.

They were really blocky and hard to hold when I picked them up at BestBuy

I love the blocky feel of their phones.

I haven't noticed any batter issues with my OnePlus 3 after the Oreo update.

What's wrong with the build quality?

The Mix 2 is at or near the top of the list of phones with the most bands. It has a dual sim card tray so I have my personal phone and work phone in it. You have to get the global variant, not the Chinese version. I bought off of swappa.com so I got it in 3 days instead of 3 weeks or more.

Nothing, it just felt cheap. The Mix 2 is made of ceramic that doesn't scratch and has some weight to it. Feels premium but is more fragile. I have a bumper case on it.

I don't have the 5T but my OnePlus 3 has great weight to it. Build quality feels awesome.
Your phone looks great.

I think the 5T is a great phone and the software is a big plus and better than the Mix 2 for sure. My sister has the 3T and I like it's design/build better than the 5T.
I buy my phones outright and like to support the companies putting out $500 phones. Same specs as the big boys without the water resistance/wireless charging/greatest camera in the world features that I don't need.

Post some pics taken with your phone.

It's not uncommon per the forums. The "cell standby" seems to drain the battery on mine. I get maybe 4.5h of SOT.
I switched to a Pixel XL which is getting significantly better battery life. I should probably just wipe it and start over to see if I can't get some improvement.

Gumbo for dinner tonight. And some sweet water 420 ;) like I said, pics aren't the best but most of what I take pictures of are time sheets and documents for work.
