have you seen the price on these things??? its like $50 just for the 2-pack of 'life' vs 'sleep' ones.

i can double the money i paid initially for these and cover the cost of the new hub.

Ok, well post the fricking results

Well, the new hub is frustrating. Having trouble getting my trippers to function and some of my tapts.

Early adopter issues

Btw I'm going to be pissed if my quirky stuff stops working.

Just got a $10 pivot in the mail this morning and set it up. It's sweet and will come in handy for the holidays so that v2 hub better support it.

My ppg is still functioning fine. Currently have no tapts. Deleted them all and haven't had time to get them reset. Have a few trippers up and going. The time from tripper to ge link coming on is finely how I always envisioned they should work. Motion detector response is nice too. I do not believe the tapts have local control yet, so I'll probably finally get around to installing my remaining ge zwave switches.

How are you using your PPG?

I have an outlink that went down and I'm guessing I have to flip the breaker to reset it like the tapts.

If the motion detection is faster that will be great.

Can you target individual detectors? I never got around to setting up more than one but when I add it to a robot it just says "motion detected" but doesn't tell me which detector.

Right now, i put the ppg in my son's room for humidifier and purifier. For the motion, you must have set up it as the group. You can use individual motion detectors. On the motion, I'm trying to get the test mode setup so I can get rid of the three minute timeout. No luck so far though.

That's been my plan all along is to have a puck in my sons room and the ppg for the humidifier to turn on and off automatically based on humidity level.

Gonna be pissed if I don't get a puck before it gets really cold and if it doesn't with with wink.

My wife changes his room around too much to use an outlink even though I still have 3 or 4 in boxes.

Eta not sure if I'm more annoyed with wink or Kickstarters.

This thread is a little overwhelming to me..

Anyway, what is the simplest way/product for someone wanting to have all lights, thermostat, tv/music, and maybe home security automated? I would like to control with alexa or google home and of course with phone. Is there an affordable plug and play system available?

There are 2 types of home automation.

1. Wifi/API based solutions such as nest, Honeywell, Chamberlain, ecobee and a couple of lightbulbs. Integration with these are simply a business agreement between Apple/Amazon/Google etc. No technical hurdles exist there.

2. Low powered "wifi-like" devices that communicate via zwave and ZigBee. These are the Uber cheap lightbulbs and the billions of other home automation doodads. These require a special router-like device such as wink or smart things to work as their brain.

At the moment Amazon, Google and apple have chosen to ignore #2 so depending on your needs you'll likely need a secund device.

Cad what is the accuracy distance on the go control sensors? I have one maybe 50 feet from the hub and it works sometimes and not others. There is another Sensor about 10 feet closer and it is working fine. The weird part is the tamper warning works every time but the open and close is sporadic.

Anything metal close by? The only problem I've run into is when there is something metal interfering.

Try playing with a sensor in that area not hooked up to anything.

Also zwave is mesh meaning if you have another powered zwave device along the way it will repeat the signal.

What is your specific application?

Appears to be a faulty sensor. I replaced with another and it works fine. Ill try working with 2 gig customer support and see if they will replace. Anyone ever worked with them?

Everyone how quick is wink about correcting firmware bugs? My Schlage locks are randomly going on and offline on the Hub 2. Have called a few times and they have yet to really give me a solution. Its not all or nothing either. Sometimes its one lock sometimes the other.
