Wife ordered me a wink command center pack on Thanksgiving. Didnt arrive by Cheistmas even though we called and they promised to ship twice. Finally called and canceled it.
That company is way over their heads. I'm sure they'll be bought out if they're worth a shite. Or fail.

My Honeywell 8580 finally came in. I'll probably install it this afternoon. Should I waste my time buying and setting up a wink hub?

You don't need the hub to connect the Honeywell. Just the app since it connects to your Honeywell account. Just download it.
Great way to play with it for free.
You only need the hub for things like deadbolts and lights that use zwave or other wireless radios.

I couldn't get the damn MyQ paired up with my garage door opener. It can tell when the door opens/closes, but it keeps failing at even completing a learning attempt.
Maybe I got a bad unit or something (my garage door opener is supposed to be compatible).

Part of being on the bleeding edge of technology. I'd return it. Give a company like GE some more time to invest.

I haven't had any problems with my Chamberlain. I installed it in about 15 minutes. I have a older genie garage opener.. Late 90s

bump.
added the kidde smoke/C02 voice-alarm detector to the hub.
i'm a bit underwhelmed but i guess there's not a whole lot it can do. there are 3 sensors:
- smoke detected
- CO2 detected
- low battery detected
i just created robots for all 3 to notify me if any alarms go off.
in the case of 'smoke' and 'C02', it automatically turns all my lights on and unlocks the front door as well.
i'm still lukewarm on wink as a whole. so much potential..such shoddy programming..i swear i could go to work for them part-time and fix half their issues in a few days.

bump2 (not trolling, but some info i just found)
if you have a schlage lock, and cant get it to properly set to 'lock' or 'unlock' depending on the conditions, i've discovered why.
the stupid app wont let you toggle it even though it has that option. nice.
it only reads the current state of the lock.
therefore, to add a 'lock' action in a robot, make sure the lock is currently set to LOCK first before creating robot.
to add a 'unlock' action, make sure the lock is currently UNLOCKED before creating the robot.
stupid shite.
oh and the smoke alarm won't register unless you set the jumpers first, then put the batteries in, then go into the app and set the jumpers there and stop on step 4..***THEN*** hit the test button on the smoke alarm. after it goes through and does the voice alarms, there will be a tiny beep (1/8 of a second) and that's when it pairs with your WINK.
i took one back after a call with WINK because it wouldnt pair no matter how many times i rebooted the hub & the smoke detector & switched the jumpers around. all i needed to do was get the WINK app on the 'ready to pair' screen and hit the button and wait about 30 seconds and that would do it.
THANKS FOR NOTHING WINK SUPPORT AND THE WASTED TRIP BACK TO HOME DEPOT.

Thanks for talking into buying all this wink capable stuff

My locks still don't work. Once I finally can get the hub to find it I can lock or unlock for a few minutes and then it stops working. I have to delete and try multiple times for the hub to connect. Kwikset 910 lock.

I'm sorry I didn't come back to this thread earlier. Automatic dead bolt locks are a pain in the arse. That's why most facilities use other locking mechanisms (ie maglocks)that don't rely on moving parts.
Cad, my lowes IRIS hub has a well designed interface, IMO. The only thing they royally suck at is the camera. Horrible functionality for anything more than live feed and same day recorded viewing. Anything more than that and you're out of luck.

Good news is most of these products are rock solid.. It's the 99 cent hub that sucks.
The smartthings hub reviews aren't any better they are also using the cloud for control.
Be patient. The investment you've made in Bluetooth Wi-Fi and zwave devices will pay off once someone building the hubs gets their act together.
For instance the schlage lock has about 30 features via zwave that can be managed by a hub but wink only supports lock and unlock. That means the schlage has lots more untapped potential.

Any other issues with the hub itself? The number one hub complaint is interference from your router so you might try to move the hub to another room for troubleshooting.
Zwave is what your kwikset uses I assume and it has some interesting technical things you need to keep in mind. How far is the hub from the door? Is there a ge bulb you can put in the same general location and see if it also drops connectivity?

The only other issue right now is the hub always shows it needs updating in the app.
I have only tested the lock so far and I have the hub about 3 feet from it for testing and it's about 20 feet from the router.
I can get one of the bulbs and put it in a lamp and test that out to see if I have issues.

did you run the update? iphone or android app?
if it 'hangs' after running the update, just reboot the hub and restart the app on your phone & see if that message goes away.
it should v.47 i think.

I have used both android and ios devices and when I run the update it never says anything but updating hub and then stays in that status. If I unplug the hub and try again it's the same thing.
Where do I check the version of the hub?
