Hampton bay is releasing a fan module for wink soon. Not sure exactly what it will do, but its a new option in wink. Ge makes a zwavefan switch if you have seperate wires for the fan.

i was in lowes yesterday and they have "Smart Vents"
the idea being you replace your $5 floor vents with $79 ones and then you can open and close them in different rooms.
i'll wait until these are $15

Can you elaborate on how you wasted them? You mean you got smart bulbs just to be able to turn the lights on/off without ever turning the fan off?

no i ended up with lots of GE link bulbs due to the firesale last chrstimas when i bought 6 wink/bulb combos.
when i moved to the new house in feb 2015, i ended up not hooking wink up for months because we had lots of work to do on the house.
the links ended up all over creation..in lamps and bathroom lights, etc. so step one was to track down all the damn bulbs.
step 2 was realizing the ceiling fan in the big room had lights/fan on the same switch and we HATED the lights always being on so it made sense to repurpose 3 of them for this light.
now its a waste and i need those links elsewhere to make a 'zigbee mesh' network to reach a post light way out in my backyard so i'm looking to move some of my smart things around.

Why are these funny ?

Dude, you not automatically closing your vents yet? Get with the program...don't think i would ever buy these. People seem to either really love them or really hate them...then A/C 'professionals' chime in and say you are going to blow your unit up by blocking vents and changing pressures

Think you are missing the point of the vents. It's not so you can just sit on the couch and open and close them from a push of a button. It's to work in a complete smart home system for energy management with vents, thermostats, temperature sensors, even shades. You can set target temps in different areas of the house and achieve those temps efficiently while not wasting energy cooling down areas that don't need them. It's very cool when done right.

$80/vent and I have like 30 vents. Can't imagine going down this road unless they are $15

I'm sure a big box retailer will get them in, not have a knowledgable staff to sell them, and they will be marked down for you to swoop in on them.

What are you using your leaksmart for?
Posted on 2/11/16 at 1:57 pm to MrSmith
Water heater in my attic is my first concern. Sure, it will dump 100 gallons if it burst, but at least it won't keep flowing...if wink is up.

leaking is the least of your concerns. if you have to buy one of the new government-mandated units (post April 2015) you won't be able to get it through the attic opening unless you rip it out and make it bigger.
better go find you a classic water heater to chill in your garage before they're all gone.
