Ah gotcha. Yeah the carriers seem to never have enough to begin with and the problem was probably worsened by the fact that the Apple site was late opening, which made people flood to the carrier sites.

OK in all seriousness, based on what preorders have looked like you should be able to get the 6 (either in store or online) fairly easily if you apply yourself.
The 6+ is starting to look like another story all together. Apple will ramp up production but you're probably looking at mid-late October. Just a guess.

This is why I stuck it out with Apple.com til I got the reservation tickets when the store finally came up and worked. Verizon ordering sucks balls. They removed any kind of expected date from mine altogether before I cancelled it.

Well my email says delivered by 9/19 and the order status says shipped by 9/19. I don't really care as long as I get it early the following week.

Verizon is saying as long as your order status online says 9/19, you will get it 9/19. Ignore the email.
My one online said 10/07 at first and then change to date is not available.

The problem seems to be with the 6+. It looks like you can get the 6 anywhere
