If you get sling and a roku type device, do the channel subscriptions through sling allow you to watch shows on demand via the roku channel apps, or would you still need a dvr to watch the live sling shows whenever you wanted? We never watch anything live besides sports, so the live only on sling vs. the dvr is the last thing making me hold out. Thanks.

I cut the chord a month ago....
Right now I'm using firestick for the watchespn app and netflix and I have Hula as well....
Is there anything else I can do/add that doesn't cost?

I have a few questions; hopefully this is the right thread to ask. . I have a Charter account for Internet and tv in my home.
I am looking to add a Roku TV to my man cave for watching sports (ESPN, SEC Network, CBS,etc.) without adding another cable box.
Never had Roku or anything like this.
My question is if I get the Roku TV are there any potential roadblocks to me watching said events mentioned above?
Do I need to be aware of anything else?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't watch network tv on a roku. Gonna need an antenna if you don't have cable/satellite. There are other non-legal ways to catch network games, though.

If these channels are included in your cable package you're entitled to stream them to a Roku at no additional charge. The Roku will pay for itself in a short time vs. paying monthly for an additional cable box.

Pretty sure there isn't an option to stream CBS on a ROKU, but if you get rabbit ears or a digital antenna, that can be caught normally pretty well.
With your ROKU, just download the watchESPN app, and enter your log in information. You'l be able to watch the following: (Note, as long as you are paying for this sports package)
ESPN
ESPN2
ESPNU
ESPNews
SEC Network
SEC Network +
Longhorn Network

Yeah, KODI

With KODI, do I just need a computer to install on Amazon Fire, or do I need to dedicate a computer to the entertainment system?
Can you log in to an AMC app with Sling TV login, like I do for WatchESPN?
TIA

Why would you want to log into the AMC app? There's a sling app on there.
No, it's a one time thing with the KODI install. After you install it into the stick, you're done for good.

- To be able to watch the shows on demand. Currently use the Sling App. Its good, but when watching a highly watched show, it freezes up.

There's a charter spectrum app on the roku that will let it work like another cable box as long as you are using a charter modem. You can also just use your log in info with the ESPN app

I set up an antenna in the attic this morning. Picture is good, but audio is sorta chipmunk-like when people are talking.
Any ideas?

Pro cord-cutting tip....
If you sign up for SlingTV and pay for a month, then cancel it, your credentials will still work. Credentials still work on ESPN app and Sling app. SlingTV is worth it when it's free.
At this point I've had about 4 free months with no service interruption.

Thacian or any TVMC/Kodi guru. I've got a good one for you.
I got another Matricom GBox Q for one of our bedrooms. I set it up like any other gbox. Go thru wizard. Sideload TVMC. Let TVMC install. No issues.
When we hop into genesis or any other video streaming app, open a stream, and it plays. The picture is "Windowed". When you go to Settings > System > Video Output the Display Mode is locked (greyed out) on "Windowed".
Troubleshooting steps:
- Tried it on a different television
- Reloaded TVMC
- Set Gbox back to Factory settings and reinstalled TVMC.
Any ideas?
nevermind. i fixed it.
Maintenance Tool > System Tweaks > Edit/Advanced XML. There's a setting in there "fullscreen" under other or unorganized.
