I keep going back and forth on Bose and Sony. If anyone hears of a great BF deal please post here or on board.

The QC35 or MX10002/3 the way to go?

I have, and love, the QC35, but everyone says the same about the Sony headphones. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Just find the best deal.

The biggest difference is that the Bose lets you easily switch between up to eight Bluetooth devices, while the Sonys require PITA re-pairing to switch. I have the original Sonys, the 1000x, and I won't buy a newer model until they address this deficiency. I actually bought a Bluetooth receiver that I connect with a 1' cable and velcro to the left earcup so I can use a second device without re-pairing. Oh, and of course, the Sony uses a not-quite-standard 3.5 mm jack, and I had to buy a special cable so it would plug in all the way.

Sony's also don't allow for two headphones to essentially listen to the same source at the same time.....the Bose can connect to each other and allow this. That was a deal breaker for me and my wife on the Sony.

I have the Bose QC35s and they're plenty adequate but I wish I had gotten the Sonys. They just sound better IMO.

I’ve heard Sony’s sound a little better but Bose are just a tad lighter, which makes a difference to me and offer better NC. Hadn’t heard the connection issues.

I like how you can hold your hand up to the right ear and hear people on the outside too.

Yes. The Sony's are fantastic and the QC35 are the industry standard. There a lot of choices vying for 3rd place, but those are your top 2 - basically boiling down to how you feel about the "Bose" way, overall. If that's your bag, then go with it. If you are not on the Bose train, then go with the Sony.

This isn't 100% true. Now, when paired, it grabs the first connection if multiple devices are on. You fix that by turning off the bluetooth on the connected devices until it connects to the one you want. So, not seamless, but doable.

From reading the reviews, I thought the re-pairing would be required, but haven't found it to be the case.

That's a neat little feature that would tip it for me as they are probably very close on everything else.

Not really doable when the option is buried deep in a menu system that is hard to get to, like on the Apple TV. And who the frick wants to turn on their TV and switch to the right input to disable Bluetooth on their Apple TV because they want to use the headphones with their phone again. "Oh no, it's not connecting to Device A. Let's go to Devices B, C, D, and E and disable Bluetooth on all of them in hopes it will magically connect to A again. Or maybe I'll just re-pair." To paraphrase John Doe, "Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say 'This isn't 100% true' and keep a straight face."

I don't do Apple - at all - baw. All my android devices I can just swipe down, tap bluetooth and it's off. Takes less than a second.

Sometimes, you have to go and connect to the device you want (not re-pair, but command directed connect) from the same menu.

Sorry your gilded cage limits your options, baw. So very sorry.

I forgot to mention the Avantree Leaf BT transmitter hanging behind my PC that's hard to physically get to.

Must be nice to live in a tiny bubble. However, I wouldn't presume to give advice once I learned about it, and I'd even thank the person who made me aware of it instead of doubling down and being a snide little prick. But that's me.

That's not my fault.

Again, I can pull my BT transmitter out of the back of my desktop PC in less than 10 seconds. No fuss, no muss.

Or a big one, I suppose.

I was being a little snarky for the tech board. I was trying to offer the OP full benefit. If you don't hate the way Bose does sound, you ought to go that way. I thought that was very fair.

Your point about the "re-pairing" just wasn't 100% accurate. I said so and explained why. I think the doubling down might be a little projection.

But, you do you, baw. I'm not getting between anyone and their QC35s. It's outstanding hardware. I just hate Bose sound, so I went with Sony. I'm very happy with them. I don't have the difficulties with them that you do and I'm sorry for that.

You're like a man who wants to rent pigs. He's hard to stop. When you want to use a device, you go and find the devices you don't want to use and disable a pretty critical feature on them you'll need to re-enable later, and you claim that mitigates the need to re-pair. If it works for you, congrats, I guess.

Bose here. Does not cancel 100% but if you are using to hear tv or music its great.
I sleep with qc35.

Got it nearly half off because repeat customer and I whined about issue repairing old qc25 one.
So once you register they work to keep you.

I have some big arse ears and most over the ear headphones make my ears hurt after a while. The Sony's have been very comfortable and have not caused any discomfort.

I have the Sony WH1000XM2.

No regrets at all.

People report the XM3 improved on the XM2 by deepening and enlarging the ear cup, but I think the Bose are still considered king in this area. FWIW, I've never had a problem with my 1000x set, which is now two generations removed.
