In case anyone is looking they are about to drop a new PI rack that holds four 4Bs with SSD space, soft shutdown buttons, and a bigger color display. I have been waiting for it to come out and been emailing them about it. I have the PIs...not 100% what all I will do with them (have a few ideas) so I'll have to learn some stuff

Supposed to be in the amazon warehouse within a week.

Nice! I like the full enclosure, can you can add extra fans to exhaust the enclosure?

I have the rack pictured below with 4xPi4(8G) with POE hats, looks nice, but even open air is not enough for cooling in my server cabinet, there is no passthru from front to rear, so it just recirculates warm/hot air in the cabinet. I have to use a big fan blowing from behind to keep things cool. And no SSD mount on this one.

Pretty sweet for a 1u form factor. Not very feasible if you don't own the Pi's already though

That’s was my concern as the case looks sealed. They said you can still fit fans on them but idk if it has any open venting or not. I plan to order one and if it’s closed up I’ll drill out some gold to get air moving within the rack. I have fans for the whole rack as well that will keep it circulating. Shall see.

Yea they are pricy now if you can find them. I got some a little while back and just been waiting until I finish up the rack to play with them. I want to use ssd’s to boot from and some extra storage but still learning stuff.

Yea at the price you'd pay for the 4 Pi's plus that rack mount, you can get a pretty damn good server instead.

Of course it'll be more power hungry and louder then the Pi's, but it's going in a rack anyway

That’s the rack I was going to go with until I saw this one mentioned on Amazon a while back.

They were under 100 bucks for 8g from the guy I got them from locally, I lucked out. I don’t really need a server and really these guys I just wanted to put them in the rack and mess around with them. I want to run a few things on them and free up the ram on the Mac mini or Nas.

Current rack status. Just need to wait for a few more things then I’ll put it together and slide into place.

NOLAGT - Hope that's an older picture!!! Unless you still haven't put all the screws in from your last update!!

But Uctronics has another 5 pi model on their website, looks to allow for even more ventilation and the larger OLED displays (like my older rack). Can't find it anywhere but on their website. I have dealt with them directly for things like updated POE hats and displays, pretty responsive.

A bit more expensive, but I think I will upgrade this fall. product link

Yea the screws are temp as I was setting things up and see where I want to put things lol.

That rack doesn’t have the space and connections to hold ssd drives and different power buttons.
