New fire stick volume control

What am I missing in setting this up? Fairly new RCA tv in the bedroom but it isn’t changing the volume using the remote.

Until they add the YouTubeTV app I have no interest in the FireTV.

Purchased the damn remote from Amazon and discovered my fire TV 4K was not supported. Damn thing wouldn't even pair. I need to return it.

Mine is a new stick with its remote.

Make sure to enable "HDMI CEC" in the settings. Your TV may call it something else.
