I work in cybersecurity, and we have removed Kaspersky as an option we'll ever consider, thanks to their recent history.
ESET is what I typically recommend, in tandem with Windows Defender. It's strong in its ability to scan without being a resource hog.
Couple that with some commonsense rules in your router/firewall, and you should be okay.

You mean a fabricated history of reported innuendo and no facts?
i would suggest you look into the actual facts of what happened with kaspersky. they didn't do anything.
