Current modem (sb 6121 - 172 Mbps) doesn't support my internet speed (400 Mbps).

I'm thinking about the Netgear CM600

Cox requires DOCSIS 3.1 for gig, so I just got the Netgear 1000

If you're planning to start getting into the upper reaches of internet speeds, you might as well get a DOCSIS 3.1 capable modem. Many gigabit services (all?) require it for technical reasons.

As for brand, I've always been partial to ARRIS, though with cable modems, brands don't matter nearly as much as they do with wireless routers.
