I have a tp link archer c9 router with the latest firmware installed. The 5gz is lightning fast. But recently the 2.4 gz signal is slow to respond with pages taking a little while to “connect” and then they finally load. My plug and play WiFi extender only operates on the 2.4 gz signal so this is why I am concerned with it.

Any thoughts as to what to do? I have turned it on/off numerous times with no resolution.

I changed the channel from the default to a random selection and it has helped. Most of the time it is back to fast as hell. You may want to give that a try. It could be an interference issue.

#metoo

Just started happening the last few days. What’s funny is that I’m running DD-WRT though so I doubt it’s related.

I did just that when the 2.4 ghz signal would no longer accept the correct password. Everything working fine now.

Funny y'all should mention that. Our 2.4 GHz band is garbage, too.

Keep experimenting with channels. Lots of stuff on 2.4 GHz, including some LTE bands. LTE can even interfere with cable channels around 700 MHz, IIRC.

You can download an app on your phone to see how much interference you may have. I use "wifi analyzer". It'll show you all of the SSIDs that it picks up, and will also show you the signal strength and what channel they are using. Then go into your router and pick the least used channel that you were seeing on the app.
