I would like to build a topic to help me and others move from one carrier to the next. If you have any experience or work for a carrier please give us your input.

Without listing what I pay here is my current Version account. Please help understand what I can expect if I move to T-Mobile.

2 IPhones and 1 Tablet on their unlimited plan.

Iphone #1 IPhone 8 Plus- Purchased from Apple with the Apple upgrade plan. It is a Verizon Branded phone. Can I bring it over to T-Mobile add a SIM card and it work just like it was on Version? Do I have to buy a new phone

IPhone #2 Iphone X - Purchased from Version. If I move to T-Mobile, does the balance become due and will T-Mobile pay it off? Will I have to buy a new phone?

Ipad - Paid Off. Just need a SIM.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to have an idea of what I need to do before I call or visit T-Mobile.

Update 1-15-2018
Very easy process. I was with Verizon so i qualified for the #GetoutoftheRed promotion.

LINK

I was in and out of the store in 45 mins and was given $650 to payoff the Iphone X. It won't quite cover it, but only left about a $100 difference.

I dropped my bill from $236 to $170, free Netflix and $650 for the Iphone X made it a huge win for me. So far no coverage issues at all.

No. Verizon iphones are unlocked and work on any carrier. i moved from verizon to tmo with iphone 6s with no issues.

you will owe the balance due when you switch. sometimes tmo runs deals where they will pay off your other phone, but only up to a certain max amount. when they do this again, i doubt they will go up to full price of the iphone X. when i switched, they paid off about $400 total on two phones. you'll just have to wait and see what the deals are. tmo don't pay verizon directly. they issue you a gift card balance. i was able to use the gift card to pay verizon off. tmo requires you follow their instructions very specifically, and you have to initiate the rebate yourself - they don't do it in store. it's not difficult, but you're basically on your own handling the rebate.

i don't know what tmo's deals are now. check their website for current deals. if you can afford to pay off your phone, i'd say it's worth it to switch. my plan with verizon was $140 + payment on phones for 8gb data. have unlimted tmo for $95/mo (2 phones).

tmo sim will work on your ipad. tmo also lets you tether up to a certain amount of data.

to make the switch, you don't really need anything. i went one night after work with my 2 phones and it was done in about an hour. they set your plan up, port number in and that's it. just make sure you back phones up to icloud before you do it (although i didn't lose anything in port over). as i said, you have to do rebate on your own if they have that special right now.

So will I owe nothing to Apple for switching?

So looking at the current deals it looks like the best move is to pay it off and then switch. I owe $779 and they only offer $650. So a new Iphone will be $1129(includes the upside down amount).

Do you notice 480p video vs HD?

i don't know how the apple plan works, but i believe they are carrier agnostic. i don't think changing carriers would change your payments to apple, but you may want ot check apple's site or call them to confirm.

i pay $5 extra per month to get HD video. it includes a couple of other perks as well (don't remember what). if you have a low data user, you can also get $5 rebate per phone if it's under 2gb i believe.

also current tmo plans include free netflix.
