Trying to figure out how to connect a second computer to my 49" widescreen monitor so I can use the same keyboard and mouse. See below for a list of ports available:
HDMI-1
HDM1-2
DP-1
DP-2
USB-C (Currently in use to connect PC 1 - works great)
USB upstream (do not see a way to select this input)
USB 3.2 Gen 1x2 (used for mouse)
USB .2 Gen 1 + fast charging (used for keyboard)
Earphones
Any guesses? I thought the answer would be USB upstream to USB-C on PC2. But there is no way I can see to select this output. The monitor is an AOC AG493UCX.

You'll be able to plug in as many different video inputs as you desire, but you will always need a separate appliance to run the hardware switching

I've used Synergy for years, works flawlessly. I have my server PC, Mac Mini, and gaming PC set up with 3 monitors, same keyboard and mouse.

I don't know exactly how this applies to the monitor you have, but I have the Philps 49"
Your USB upstream is basically 'always live' unless you are using USB C.
Most monitors with USB-C in have a video-over-usb-C capability and charing capability- the ideal use case is for a laptop dock, whild the USB upstream (that goofy square port) hooks to the other computer
Despite that totalling 5 inputs, it's really only designed for two computers (a primary and a docked laptop)
Mine is set up as such:
USB-C- mac mini (permanently attached- works fine...probably not what their intent for the port is, though)
DP- windows desktop
I have a USB hub attached to the monitor to expand the number of shared ports, and a hub for each of the individual computers (stored under the desk) so I can plug into either 1, the other, or both monitors.
I have a 3rd machine (proxmox, runs home assistant and an instance of Fedora, mostly to play with. It uses one of my HDMI inputs, but there's no way to 'switch' usb to it, so there is a second keyboard, but it is hidden (I have a pull-out keyboard drawer that I don't really use- it is too low for the chair I have, and I prefer my keyboard at desk-height, so it's not particularly unsightly).
There are a few that have 2 upstream USB connections + USB C and a few that have 2x USB C and an upstream USB, but you're probably better off buying a real KVM switch that's exactly what you need or a simple USB switcher and switch the USB independent of the video.
