Meross garage door opener hell

I have changed my WiFi password and thrown my garage fire control for a loop. I’ve reset it and have tried to re-add through their app as their info suggests. However, in doing so it immediately recognizes that it is still installed with HomeKit. HomeKit will not allow me to remove it since it isn’t connected to the network. Any ideas?

I bricked mine once with a firmware update but got it back online by climbing up and physically unplugging it and turning it back on.
Can you just use the meross app and forget homekit completely?

Actually, it is now working with the Meross app after some improvisation. The original accessory is still shown in HomeKit and cannot be removed, keeping me from using HomeKit at all.

I get that maybe I’m expecting too much. But I have enjoyed the CarPlay functionality that HomeKit brings.
