Making portrait sketches like the Wall Street Journal in Photoshop

It's called Hedcut. I've looked around the web and can't find anything that does this in Photoshop.. Anybody have a good alternative? FWIW, I actually talked to a staff artist for the WSJ. He was willing to do one of my son-in-law who's in the financial sector - $800 a pop.

I looked for this about 5 years ago but never found anything. will try that link when I get home today.

That link looks awesome. I am an idiot when it comes to this stuff. What are you supposed to do with that script; is there a place where you copy it into Photoshop?

It's not for Photoshop.. it's for GIMP.

I'm assuming that you're not familiar with GIMP either...

It's a freeware that has a lot of the tools that photoshop has and you can do a lot of similar things with it... not everything obviously, but a lot.

Here's a link to the installer download. Then you want to look into importing scripts (such as the one earlier in the thread)

also this LINK shows how they do it but its by hand, not a photoshop filter.

There might be iOS apps that does this for a much cheaper price (free even). It may not be exactly like the WSJ ones, but it will be close. Is it close enough is something that you have to decide.
