MacBook, troubleshoot or upgrade?

I have a pretty old (2012?) MacBook Air that was chugging along just fine until Ida. It didn’t get wet or damaged in the storm in anyway, but coincidentally it began running extremely slow after the 3 days without power. I later noticed it wouldn’t charge, so I swapped the battery, but it is still unbearably slow.

Unless anyone has any idea what might be wrong, I guess I am looking to upgrade to something similar. I don’t need much in the way of computing power, the only thing I use it for is 3D printer slicing and some light modeling. Any suggestions?

For a machine that old, I'd be looking to replace.

If you're happy with Mac, the MacBook Air with M1 processor is a fantastic fast, efficient, cool, quiet, and portable machine.

Ditto to the Macbook Air. The M1 chip is really impressive and the first time I can say Apple's are worth it over Windows. Finally not an overpriced apple brand device.

I have always had a MacBook Pro. I have owned 3 of them over 25+ years. In December 2019, I decided to get an iPad Pro 12.9 inch screen with 256gb hard drive. I haven’t picked up my MacBook Pro since. I have subscribed to Office 365 and everything that I need to do that I did on my MacBook Pro, I can now do on my iPad. It’s lighter and more portable. I take it with me on planes and when I work out of state. For everything that I need to do, the ipad works. One of the best decisions I have made regarding my electronics.
