LINK

A little pricey in comparison to the light switches. 80 vs 50, remotes are 42 and I forget what picos for lights cost.

I(my electrician) just installed a regular Lutron switch where the fan on and off switch was It lets me turn it on anywhere from 1 to 100%.

Seems to work fine. Didn’t know I was supposed to do that.

If it's a voltage dimmer, you will burn the fan motor out. Some lutrons do lights and fans, but not caseta

Gotcha. Had no idea. I guess I should order these in March. It’s been over a year and no problems with the four places with fans but I’m sure it’s coming.

So do I. This switch makes it all controllable from the switch. I will probably get two to replace the two regular switches I have controlling fans right now so I can move those to other switches I want to smarten up.

Unfortunately for me I can't just changed switches to smarten up my house. Most of my switches don't have a true neutral and therefore cannot run Caseta unless rewired.

I was going to do this because I have two wall switches for fan and light

I dunno. I guess I thought it was for all of them when my electrician complained about needing a true neutral and my old arse house was wired w/o one. He figured it out though. Still has to run a home run for my bathroom so I don't keep flipping breakers.

Yeah the new fan controller above and this below dont need neutrals. I dont have neutrals in my house but lots of these casetas

You dont need an electrician to hook these up, very easy. Unless you are on a three, four way, then you need to do a bit more, but still easy

I didn't think I would. My electrician was there for running new cans and rewiring a renovated bathroom along w/ a few other things.

Anyone install one yet? They're available at Home Depot.

I'm considering one but have a question for anyone who may know:
I installed a caseta dimmer in my living room. I have a Harmony Elite remote which controls the lights.
My fan is a Hampton Bay fan that also uses a remote, but it is not compatible with my remote. The wall switch always gets turned off, which is annoying, so the remote still typically requires me getting up. It's not a big deal, but this stuff interests me, and adding control of the fan to the Harmony is intriguing to me (already does lights and thermostat in addition to the AV).

My question is:
Should the Caseta fan speed control work with the Hampton Bay RF-controlled fans? Or will the varied voltage coming from the wall switch do something less than ideal to the motor (due to the RF receiver/controller being in the fan)? I admittedly don't understand if these "wireless" fans are different with the way they work or pull power from the wall.

And yes, I understand it's redundant (if it does work). But I'm crazy and would rather pay for the convenience of using one remote.

ETA: nevermind. The quickstart guide says to remove the other remote first.
Still, anyone get hold of one yet?

Not yet. Have too many projects going on.

In your situation you either need to get rid of the RF remote and use just the caseta or use the caseta fan on/off switch, that does not have a speed controller and the rf remote. 1st option is the best

This is my goal. The wall-install is easy, and I planned on going grab one when I saw it in stock at Home Depot before I realized my mistake. I am a bit too busy for the next month or so to learn how to splice out the RF controller in the fan. I've seen a few how-to's around, but I haven't had the time to break out the ladder, get up there, and actually see what's going on (even just to find which exact fan model I have).

I may just let the wife be happy with me being too lazy to use the fan or put a fan on/off (only) at the wall so we can at least kick on the ceiling fan, but I'm not doing that until I've decided trying to remove the RF from the fan is above my pay grade.

Oh well. I look forward to updates over the next few weeks.
