I am looking for a decent tablet that runs pure android and can take 6.0. Is this the way to go? I would like to stay in the $300-350 price range.
No SD expansion kinda grinds my gears but I imagine the OS only takes ~1-2 gb? Any advice?

I have a Nexus 9 running 6.0. Haven't had any complaints.

My nexus 9 runs like a champ on 6.0. I love it, but I do notice that chrome runs down the battery far quicker than any other app (I dont play games on it so I can't compare it to that). It may be a chrome issue. My only complaint is the build quality. The back is peeling (which seems to be rare), the power and volume buttons seem cheap and overall doesnt have the premium build quality of an iPad. None of those things are deal killers, but I wanted to make you aware.

Thanks! Do you guys have Google built one or one of the 3rd party built? I wonder if it even matters as they 3rd party are built to the same specs.

The Nexus 9 is built by HTC. Google is only associated with it because it's a Nexus product, they don't actually build it.

ETA: I love mine. Was an upgrade from the Nexus 10, which I had some issues with.

I like the Nexus 9 because it's a good vehicle for running pure android.

But let's be honest, it was wildly overpriced for its shitty, shitty build quality. And I love HTC phones.

It's my primary tablet, but it was a poor Nexus effort.

Is nexus the only game in town? I have seen some Dell tablets that run pure android but I am apprehensive.

The Nexus line will always be the first to receive updates. The updates come direct from Google, and do not have to wait for the manufacturer to push them down.
