Trying to find something mid-range ~$500 that delivers quality sound and good features.
I don’t need Alexa built in or anything like that, just something that can deliver surround sound that won’t break the bank.

soundbars don't do surround. You need speakers located behind you for surround sound.

What kind of features are you looking for? I have a Bose sound bar with a Bose Bass Module that I think I paid $650 for total.
It’s excellent.

I think there are some systems with satellites. A cheap dedicated unit will blow any sound bar away though. If you're set on it I have a Yamaha that I'm happy with but not for surround. It provides an excellent upgrade over the TV speakers.

I just recently purchased this unit, Best Buy, to replace my old sound bar. The rear satellite speakers plug into the wireless subwoofer, so you don't have wires running from the soundbar to the rear speakers. So far it has performed really well for me. The sound is a huge upgrade over my old 2.1 system.
