I have my router/modem in the living room. Looking to make my signal stronger in the bedroom. About 30 feet away. My phones work ok, it's just my chromecast loses signal very often.

Get an Access Point. You can plug it into your router and the strength will be twice as strong as your wireless router.

Ubiquiti Unifi AP. Around $75-$100 on Amazon. Easy to set up and work great.

Yeah, that's what I have. I went from not getting service in a bedroom to being able to receive a good wifi signal out in my backyard.

I just got some unifi APs as well and love them. Still working on it but I have a pretty solid 5ghz signal through my house now.

How does this work?
I have same situation. No hard wires. Router toward front with modem. Bad signal in back.
You plug the AP directly to router or somewhere else and hardwire?
Would it be easier to just get a 30 dollar WiFi booster?

Yes APs plug directly into your router. A typical setup would be they are hardwired to a network router throughout your house or workplace and mounted in the ceiling or wall. Luckily I was given one by a friend that didn't need it anymore. I just tried it out by plugging it in and the result was a much greater signal that I can access anywhere in my house. So I just left it next to my router. I've heard wifi extenders don't work that well. Maybe others have had different results.
