I have some 4" led can lights in my soffit. The wink capable lights are $40-50 each so this would be a much cheaper option.!

Bumping this thread with a really cool product made by Aeon Labs (maker of z-wave).
Home Energy Meter
There's a special on v1 of this for $29 at Amazon.
Energy Meter v1
Main difference is v1 uses batteries and according to Aeon doesn't send as much rich data back to you.
It does not work with WINK (yet..ever?)
Basically, you clamp this to the cables inside your electrical box outside your house and it then monitors your electricity usage. VERY COOL.
Here's the description from their site
I am starting to see the advantages of some of this stuff. If you can pinpoint the worst offenders of your electricity usage, you can start to find ways to save money. Its a shame the power company isn't providing any 'real time' statistics on what is eating your energy other than those yellow government 'energy guide' stickers on hot water heaters that are almost useless.
eta here's a dashboard from a TED hub so you can get some idea what you can see from this:

Installed in an electricity box, the energy meter will monitor the total consumption of electricity used by an entire building. And its intelligent clamps will report that energy use back to your Z-Wave gateway or controller, in watts or kilowatt-hours, and in real time. So you can see how much electricity you really use and when you use it.

I don't use any of the aftermarket stuff. However we have our alarm and thermostats on a wifi system through our alarm company. It has definitely been worth the investment. When we are out of town, it allows us to adjust our thermostat up or down before we actually arrive back home. I am likely going to do something similar at our place in Florida. I am looking into wifi cameras and exterior lights now. The place in Florida gets rented out sometimes so I don't want to go overboard on automated stuff and weird renters out even if it is VRBO.
