Laptop recs for HS sophmore

Looking to purchase new laptop for HS soph, pipe dream to think it will last him till college. I am waaayyyy behind times on proessors, storage, etc. Any recommendations for a mid-high end laptop for this scenario. There is a moderate chance he ends up in engineering or STEM related field as well.

Whats your price range ?
Anything in the sub 600 range should last three to four years until they need a decent one for college..Probably get onto the last of the CMas deals too

I started mine out with a small Apple laptop. It has been very dependable and easy for them to use. They have iPhones also so it makes sense just to stick with that. Was not really that expensive.
