Laptop fan coming on

All of a sudden in the past few days, my laptop fan has started coming on when i shut it down, or close the lid.
I've disabled the quick boot option, but kinda lost as to whats up here.

were you running any intensive apps at the time? I have found that my macbook's fan turns on if I am using Google Earth.

Once upon a time I had a HP laptop that acted similar to this. I discovered that the thermal paste between the heatsink and CUP had worked itself loose.

Not running any apps at all. Its almost like there was some new command written to turn fan on when user turns computer off. Its been sitting on my kitchen counter unplugged 'turned off' and the fan has been running all night.

Try cleaning it out. If its older it may be full of dust.
