So I have a fire tv box hooked to wifi. I have coxes fastest tier Internet and a strong wifi signal. My router is a 3 or 4 year old motorolla surfboard and I have a plug in signal streghtner that gives me 3 different channels in my home. I gave up trying to watch the lsu basketball game last night it was kicking me off so much saying the connection was lost, yet when id check the connection it indicates a stong wifi signal on every available channel.
Router need replacing: can't keep up?

Lots of variables possibly at play here. If possible, plug directly into the router. WiFi interference, particularly on 2.4GHz, can cause all sorts of issues.
If you are using the combo wifi switch, router, and modem from Cox, they are generally trash.
Also I don't know what you mean by "Plug in signal strengthener" but if you mean a wifi range extender that just repeats the wireless signal typically halves your bandwidth as WiFi is half-duplex. Those are generally not ideal.

Wifi range extender and I do not have the cox issue router.
It's a modem wifi router combo from best buy about 3 or 3 years old. Motorola surfboard, don't have model # handy

Doesn't matter whether you get it from best buy or from cox. Those modem/router combos are trash. Get a dedicated modem and dedicated router.

Your router is more than likely the problem. The Fire TV supports 802.11ac but your router is probably a single band 802.11g which is not adequate for most streaming.
Get a decent router and configure it as an access point. You can continue to use the modem part of your existing unit.

You may have an enlarged prostate. You might want to go get that checked out.
