Interested in using my upgrade to get the iPhone X, currently have a 6s that is seeing its final days. I understand they are phasing out the upgrade program, but are old 2 year contract upgrades grandfathered in? I'd rather not pay 1000 dollars if I have the option to not do so.

I dont think so

I'm not a Verizon customer personally, but my girlfriend is. We went into the Verizon store over the weekend to get her a new phone, Her's is about to crap out. Her current phone is at least 4 years old, if not older. We went in to ask about upgrading, and he told me flat out, we dont do that anymore, nobody does that anymore. Then he went on to try and sell us on a series of $800 phones

we thanked him and walked out

she's been a Verizon customer for a very long time, there was no indication of grandfathering in anything

You can either pay full price up front or tack on 30 or so bucks to your bill for 24 months

You’ve always paid full price for phones. The difference now is carriers are transparent about it and your bill will go down if you keep your phone after the two years of payments are done.

Yep, like it better this way. No hiding the phone cost in the service contract

Smart phones used to be $40 per month when you did a two year contract so $199,$299, etc+ 20*24. Now they're $20 per month and you have phone payment.

Basically the same thing. Source I worked there 2015-2017.
