Is anyone else having issues with iTunes podcasts?

My phone keeps telling me my device is not connected to the internet within the podcast app. I'm getting email, web, and apps that use internet all to work fine. I tried it on wifi and cell data. Tried restarting the phone as well. Keep getting the same error message.

The default iPhone podcast app is garbage. Use pocketcasts

I have no issues and love the default podcast

Have you used any of the better apps though?

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I only listen to a couple right now through iTunes.

To answer the OP's question, I haven't had any issues with the app. Just had several download yesterday and listened to a few episodes this morning on my commute in to work.
This seems to be a fairly common sentiment on these boards. I've only used the stock podcast app on my phone. It auto-downloads the podcasts to which I'm subscribed and then deletes them once I've listened to them. Serious question, what do the other apps do that make them so much better. What am I missing out on?

ITunes podcast app is the best by a mile IMO. Hope you get it figured out.

I prefer the default app as well.

I didn't really have issues with iTunes podcast. But when I switched I never looked back

And why is that? What's the difference that kept you on the new app?
