For a 3 year old
My child’s pediatrician said that’s entirely too young for a child to be using that kind of technology. They’re still learning to communicate and their brains are very young and developing. Plenty of time to get addicted to that stuff later. They should be reading books in their hands, playing with other children, playing with toys, building stuff. Not glued to a screen.

Oh for Pete's sake. My little one lived in our swimming pool this summer and he and I spent countless hours exploring the woods behind our house and walking our dogs.

He also has rescue bots, crayons and a giant tub of Legos he plays with all day long.

We have a fire tv with mousebot and crossy road along with youtube kids (side loaded) and several streaming services to watch cartoons.

There's an old xbox downstairs with batman lego we play together sometimes and an arcade cabinet I built with old school games in our bar.

Then of course we have phones he plays on occasionally when we're on a long drive.

Absolutely none of this is stunting his growth.

yeah, I believe a lot of pediatricians and "experts" haven't learned what actually happens with young children exposed to electronics long term. They just go with what they think will happen.

are there parents who turn their kids into walking zombies by leaving them in front of a screen all day? of course. thats called shitty parenting; don't blame the devices and don't assume all parents are the same.

when someone posts a knee jerk comment that 'my kid will never lay eyes on an electronic device' thats just as dumb.

you never let your kids have sweets and they're going to over-indulge when your back is turned. we have a friend who never lets their daughter have so much as a single cookie and when we babysit the poor thing goes crazy and wants to eat a whole box of chips ahoy. they just created a kid with an eating disorder.

the trick to life is not making a huge deal out of any one thing to your kids because you turn that one thing into a problem when you do.

you can tell your kid he's not allowed to know what minecraft or youtube is but you can bet as soon as they're over at a friend's house with an iPhone or TV in their room they're going to be glued to it the whole time.

Your pediatrician is not a psychologist and not trained in such things. Medical doctors over step their bounds all the time.

look at all the posters who don't actually have children downvoting in this thread.

It sure is easy to parent when you're not one.

I have a 7 and 10 year old. Neither had screens at 3. They didn't get screens until they were 6. Even now they are very limited. My kids are smart, sociable, and not addicted to technology, unlike some of those around them.

I'm sure the ones here who are advocating for shoving a screen in a kids face are the same ones I see at restaurants with their kids faces buried in screens while eating.

Or you don’t know how to get your kids to be disciplined and have a balanced life. Tech is now and the future, it should be taught in class.

Nintendo 3DS XL. Tons of games. More protection. Cheaper. Sold at gamestop or ebay, and amazon.
