I’ve tried a few different things but nothing is happening. Anyone have any tips besides the power and volume buttons held simultaneously?

iTunes restore?
Our Mac won’t recognize it. I’ve had it plugged into a charger for a while. The computer won’t recognize it and it won’t ever show it is charging.

Is the connection tight? I know it sounds obvious, but I was having trouble with mine not charging, and it was just lint in connection port. Felt dumb after digging it out with a toothpick.
Otherwise, plug it in on a good connection and a hard reset.

Attempt to clean out the port like the LSUtigerME says, it's incredibly common. If not plug the phone into an outlet and hold the power and volume down buttons for about 15 seconds to attempt to reset the pmc of the phone. If that doesn't work take the phone into an apple store or authorized service provider to do whats called the icc test (to measure the current going into the phone) and to see if the phone is able to turn back on.
Edit: also ensure you try multiple cables to exclude the cable as the source of the charging issues.

Thanks. I tried that and still nothing. There’s a phone repair place in my building and th diagnostic is free. If it’s a battery or charge port it shouldn’t be that much to fix. I would do it myself but my wife had surgery this past weekend and I need her to have a phone. Don’t want to wait a few days on amazon.

Repair guy tried changing batteries, charging port, and screen. Nothing worked. He thinks it’s the computer board. Didn’t charge me for anything and put it back to like it was. If apple replaces the computer board is there a chance it works again? Wife is mainly concerned about getting stuff off it like pictures. We’re about due for new phones anyway.

In an apple store, apple doesn’t replace the logic board, if the phone is that far gone they can replace it with what’s called a service replacement which is a brand new iPhone, straight from the factory with no accessories or let you decide if you want to upgrade to a new phone. Service replacement iPhone 7 should cost around $319 and has a 90 day warranty, a newly purchased phone has a year warranty and can have AppleCare added additionally.

Have you;
Tried multiple cables?
Tried multiple chargers/power bricks?
Let it die completely then try an iTunes restore? That might work since it’s not being recognized.

Yeah tried all that. It just won’t come on. Wife is more upset that she lost pics. I may take it to apple and see if they can get anything off of it. Doubt it though. She’s horrible about backing up. I bought new phones last night and when I went to set hers up from iCloud the last backup was in 2017. And I think that was the phone before this last one. Any chance they can access the memory on it? Not sure how that would work.

Apple won't be able to access the data from the device unfortunately. They will only give options to attempt data recovery at a place like drive savers, but that is insanely expensive.
