I bought a new iphone 13 yesterday. The dude told me I needed a USB-C charging block. He said if I use my old iphone charger it would harm the new phone. I didn't really understand what he was getting at. Do any of you know if this is the case, and what he was talking about? Thanks.

The dude doesn't know what he's talking about. Any charger that worked with your old iPhone will work with your new one. After all, that's why Apple doesn't include them in the box: everyone already has a charger. It would be idiotic if they designed things so that old chargers damaged new phones and doubly idiotic if they didn't give you a new one at the same time, everyone would be frying phones

The only difference is a newer charger with USB-C will likely charge your phone faster.

He was trying to sell a new and probably expensive branded charger.

Works with regular charger Apple has been selling for years now.

That being said, the fast charge capability on the USB-C version is awesome. Recommend if you're like me and always forget to plug in your phone.

I love the wireless charging. I just throw the phone on my nightstand before I go to bed and it charges over night.
