Ipad Air vs reMarkable for note taking

I am 51 years old and starting law school at Loyola in the fall. When I was in undergrad i used a Big Chief tablet. I see my son using his iPad at LSU for note taking. I have an IPad Air but am thinking of buying a reMarkable tablet for note taking. The other alternative would be to buy a Paperlike or Rock Paper Pencil type of screen protector to mimic the feel of writing on paper.
Does anyone have experience using the reMarkable tablet or one of the screen protectors that I mentioned for the iPad Air?

I have a remarkable. It's a note taking machine.

I'll throw another option out there, Kindle Scribe. It's a reMarkable but also an e-reader if you're into that.

I use the reMarkable in my law practice, but it's basically a meeting notebook and an expensive dayplanner.
Is this going to be in lieu of a laptop for note taking in class?

As an iPad pro and Supernote user, I would probably use the iPad if I were doing classes these days. Easier to access more stuff and apps like Notability which let you take notes and record audio (lecture) so they're synced for later studying.

I installed a Paperlike screen protector that makes it feel more like writing on paper. So far i am fairly impressed with it. Using that along with Notability I think I am set.
