What should I be using to prevent sound bleed to upstairs bedrooms when installing in ceiling speakers downstairs?

Complete remodel if that matters

You could add a back box or enclosure for them. That would also help with bass response

Do you have access above ?

Dynabox

Some speakers also have model specific back boxes

If house is gutted, you could use MDF and go inbetween rafters to create your own enclosures. I’ve done this and also filled my boxes with insulation or poly fill

There are also prefabbed enclosures as well as speaker specific enclosures available for some speakers. I’ve seen dynabox’s , but they seem expensive for what they are IMO. Those are flexible and would work if you didn’t have access above
