Yes

That looks a lot like a spa/hot tub schematic which I have a bit of experience on, first thing if both heating elements are heating at the same time it will draw 45 amps, add a 1 1/2 hp pump running then you will add another 10 amps, add more then the amp draw will increase. The biggest failure in these types of sit-ups is usually low voltage created by too small of a wire/too long of a run which will generate heat in the wiring and circuits. I would suggest going to 60 amp lugs at a minimum and a 60 amp breaker.

Well, he’s probably right. What if this guy doesn’t understand grounding, or thinks one of his 240 volt leads is neutral? He is not qualified, and he should get a qualified electrician to hook up anything above 24 volts. It’s not something to mess with.

So I do have a 70 amp spa panel (50 amp 240v plug and a 20 amp 120v plug) hooked up to a 60 amp breaker. The heating elements are 5500 watt elements so they will pull 22.9 amps when at full power.
The original question was a theory question about is the full 50amps going through both hot circuits. Too bad there are a bunch of pretentious douches on this bored to get an answer without they snide comments. Maybe I should have pulled out my EE course notes from 15 years ago. Ohh well.

Well, he’s probably right.
So to be pretentious and make a snide comment like that is pretty stupid. I will continue to expand my knowledge in different hobbies and appreciate guidance. I have learned people who are the most knowledgeable do not react like he did and provide guidance for people wanting and willing to do things themselves. So I'll get off my soap box.
But the reason I asked is because I have found that the 50amp terminal strips are few and far between as I have said in an earlier post.
