Image Retention on older Plasma

I have nine year old Panasonic plasma that still looks fantastic but I'm noticing more image retention lately from various news channel logos, cartoon network station logo etc.. With the exception of the cartoon network the image retention fades rather quickly.I ve never noticed this before about six month ago. Is this a result of the set just getting older?

Yes.

Mine's a 2007 Panasonic plasma that does the same, but the afterimages never last longer than a day.

You think it still looks fantastic but I can assure you that it’s much dimmer than it was when it was new.

Probably so but I just bought a new Samsung 4k. It was a cheaper 7 series but that being said I still prefer the watching movies on the plasma. I guess Ill have to shell out for an OLED to match the quality of blacks and good viewing angle

I have an LG65C8 OLED. Stunning image. I can’t find fault with it and I designed and built home theaters for nearly 20 years.

I have a 10 year old panasonic plasma as well, and it still works great. Image retention can happen but burn in should not as at this point they're about as broken in as can possibly be.
