Ubiquiti POE injectors
Just a heads-up that Ubiquiti stuff runs on 24 volt POE. Perfectly fine for that environment, but beware that some VoIP phones and pro audio gear may want full 48 volt POE.

Their older APs used 24v passive (I guess due to their roots in ISP gear), but I think all of their UniFi APs of the last several years support 802.3af. The AC Lite might be the only remaining AP that they sell which requires 24v passive.

Doesn't really matter, this is just a house. Not going to be running anything but wifi and normal TV connections.

BTW did some more work tonight getting the heat shrinking on all the connections, testing and double checking everything.

I identified 3 of the 5 APs I have hooked up within a few min. I'll identify other two tomorrow night pretty easily.

The last AP, not gonna install until after I get everything up as I want to heat map the wifi to find right spot

Ubiquiti has added a pretty cool augmented reality wifi signal mapper to the Wifiman app. You might still have to sign up for the beta to get that version, and also it crashes quite a bit on my phone, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Glad it worked out for you.
You may already know, but you can tune those WAPs so they don't interfere with each other. Having 6 in a 4K foot home is a lot.

Last summer during COVID boredom, I decided to FINALLY set up our wired network. Most of the room had Cat5/Cat5e run to then, but they were never terminated on either end. It wasn't a problem in the bedrooms, but back at the box I had a bunch of cable that just ended. I would have loved a cable signal generator, but as you've all figured by know, I'm a cheap SOB.

My cheap SOB solution was to simply twist two of the wires together in the bedroom(s)/office/living room and go back to the box and use the continuity setting on my multimeter to identify where each cable ran. Was it a pain in the butt? Yes. Did it take an inordinate amount of time? Yes. Did it work without having to buy any new equipment? Yes.

well house is a little over 5 but its actually over 6 if you consider the "unfinished" attic which is really a theater room.

i have it setup like this

dream machine and 1 WAP upstairs which is right at 2k sf

have 2 down stairs to cover 2700 sf plus covers front yard and pool area of back yard.

1 in mother in law suite whish is 1k sf plus covers back patio area which is 750 sf and part of the back yard

1 in port a chere garage which is 500 sf plus covers coutyard area

1 in the back corner of the main garage to cover garage (~1150 sf) and side yard

but yea i will configure. first time doing everything like this so im sure i will have a ton of questions onhow to setup but between here, youtube and unifi resources Im sure i can work through it.

in the end i am wanting all tvs, gaming devices and computers to be running hard wired back. then having everything else running wifi. I am wanting the whole property to have good wifi, thats the main goal. Hopefully i accomplish that using the wired APs.

in the end, downstairs locations of the wAP cant be changed. All others can be moved other than dream machine. I would just have to run new cat6 which isnt that big of a deal as all access points are on the ceilings upstairs or in garages. Do I want to....hell no, but i determined when i started this that I was going to do it right and have it work seamlessly and give the best wifi signal i could.
